All of our Fifth NYC pieces are created using the finest man made, conflict free CZ stones and precious metals, so your jewellery needs a little TLC to keep it at its best. Not sure where to start? Don’t worry; we’ve got this handy guide to keep your treasures at their best.
The information below is a guide to keep your items in near perfect condition, we have thoroughly tested all items over a sustained period to ensure that the products we offer will last a lifetime, hence why we are proud to offer a lifetime warranty, (see warranty section for more details) keeping them properly and using the guidelines below will only help their longevity.
Store it right
Wear, dust and pollution can all lead to your gems losing their sparkle and the metals dulling. That’s why every piece comes with its own dust bag to protect it. Alternatively, storing these in a fabric-lined jewellery box will ensure your piece doesn’t get bashed or scratched between uses.
Whatever you decide, ensure your jewellery is stored away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Will my jewellery turn green
No it will not, all of our items are plated with layers of 18k gold, rose gold or if silver in colour are rhodium plated. This prevents the base metal reacting with the PH level of your skin and causing oxidisation which in turn leads to green fingers. Cheaper brands will have lower levels of plating, if any at all, when this plating wears off that is when oxidisation will occur. Our man made items are super high quality and as a result your fingers will never turn green.
Check where you’re wearing it
It may seem a little obvious, but there are a few things you need to avoid to keep your jewellery glistening for longer. Always be sure to take your pieces off before you jump in shower, go for a swim, get stuck into some housework and even before you go to bed.
Can I wear lotion?
Yes but ensure that hand and face creams have completely absorbed before slipping your jewellery on. Be careful when using makeup, hair products and perfumes too and always avoid spraying or wiping anything directly on your piece. This is because the chemicals in these products can damage and tarnish your treasures.
But don’t fear. If your piece does come into contact with anything by accident, use a tissue or towel to pat them dry.
Don’t forget to clean
Giving your jewellery a little love, with a little clean, is a great way to keep them in perfect order.
Inside your order there’s a super soft cloth, which is ideal for cleaning your stones and keeping your whole piece shining for years to come.
